2. Categories of personal data, purposes, legal basis
2.1 Server log files
When you visit our site, our hosting provider (ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstr. 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany) automatically processes connection data such as IP address, user agent, referrer, requested URL and timestamp. These logs are retained for a short period for technical operation and IT security. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in stable, secure operation).
2.2 Whitepaper subscription form
If you submit the whitepaper request form, we process: first name, last name, email address, company/vessel name (optional), professional role, source language. The data is transferred to our service provider Klaviyo Ireland Limited (Klaviyo, Inc.; Beaux Lane House, Mercer Street Lower, Dublin 2, Ireland) for double-opt-in confirmation and to send you the whitepaper plus a follow-up email after five days.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent) and Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (pre-contractual / information request). Consent is documented via Klaviyo's double-opt-in (confirmation click). You can revoke consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in each email; the lawfulness of past processing remains unaffected.
Retention: until you withdraw consent, or up to 36 months without further interaction, then deletion.
Klaviyo may transfer data to the United States. Klaviyo's data transfer is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable. See Klaviyo's privacy notice: www.klaviyo.com/legal/privacy/privacy-notice.
2.3 Bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
We use Cloudflare Turnstile (provider: Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) to protect the form against automated abuse. Turnstile evaluates technical characteristics of your browser; no cookies are set. The check generates a short-lived token. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in IT security and abuse prevention). Cloudflare data may be transferred to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. See www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
2.4 Cookies and consent management
We use the open-source consent management platform Klaro! (self-hosted, no third-party data flow). Klaro stores your consent decision in a first-party cookie named sicher-bunkern-klaro for up to 12 months. This cookie is technically necessary to honour your choice. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR and § 25 (2) TTDSG (storage strictly necessary).
2.5 Statistics (Google Analytics 4 – opt-in)
If, and only if, you actively consent via the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 (provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; for some operations Google LLC, USA). GA4 records anonymised usage data (page views, sessions, events) with IP anonymisation. Measurement ID: G-8FYLK8K8C7.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent) and § 25 (1) TTDSG. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the consent settings link in the footer.
Data transfer: Google may transfer data to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. See policies.google.com/privacy.

Under the GDPR you have the right to: information (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21).
